Wow! Great work on your Summertime Blues projects! Today I will give you ballots for voting for collections/garments.  The categories are MOST CREATIVE, MOST COMPLICATED CONSTRUCTION, BEST CRAFTSMANSHIP. Write your name on the back of each of the ballots.

Monday, today- finish your garments/collections and write your runway narratives. Decide who will model. Write in the third person ( example:  Jenny Craig has the blues, because she is so sad to graduate from Lane Tech. Then describe your garment/collection including clear description of design choices. She will be spending time at the beach, carrying her LT water bottle she got at prom in her cross body bag designed and created by… Her bag is big enough to carry… The Shibori fabric is incorporated…and enhanced by… Her tent dress will be just the ticket to wear when riding the new Ferris Wheel at Navy Pier. (more information regarding construction) Then tell us about construction techniques. The designer (name of the person who created the garment) explored creating darts t0 make the dress more form fitting. The hem is finished perfectly, being turned over and topstitched, to provide that polished look.

On Tuesday- you must be ready to roll when we come in. Senior groups will present first.  You will need to leave your garments with me until Wednesday- so I can grade the projects. Also- turn in your narratives.

Everyone should be working on independent projects. Wedding dresses were due last week. You did a great job!

Fill out a rubric for your independent project, and SHOW it to me. If I am VERY busy, put your name on a piece of tape and put it on your project. Attach the rubric, so that I can easily take it off.

Please be aware that sewing machines at the back of the room will be going to get serviced on Wednesday- so make sure your table has a sewing machine. Check your seams to make sure the seams are strong. Do not assume the person befor you threaded it correctly.

If you are finished with your independent project, consider making a toy for a child in the hospital. Fabrics are available on the back table.

I will send you the link to the final and exit survey tomorrow. Make sure you submit your responses before the end of class. Final will cover proportions of the body and face and some basic questions regarding fashion illustration.

Be aware that we will be in the computer lab next week. Manage your time well.

Art 1- Information for week of June 6-10

This week finish your painting, fill out the rubric and attach it to the back of your painting with ONE piece of tape. Please make sure you fill out the information on the back of the painting, too, so when I remove the rubric, I can return your work. The painting is due NO LATER than the end of class on Friday.

Also- fill out a independent project proposal and turn it in to the red folder. You must complete this by tomorrow (Tuesday the 7th) to get credit for your plan.

Populat independent projects include: printmaking- your choice of subject, create a stencil- you MUST wear a cutting glove and be careful when cutting out the areas you want to show. Apply your paint with a foam brush to paper or a canvass (we have a limited number of canvasses), a painting- you may use ANY of the remaining colors, but be aware we are running low on black. Using a darker color can have a similar- but possibly more beautiful affect, a pop-up page or card.

We will have this week and most of next week for the independent projects.

FFF 2- Information for week of May 31- June 3
